Basic Flowers
with a Studio Twelve®
Loom
A
Holding loom so that space #1 appears at the top, insert end
of strand in slot at space #7. Working on outer circle of pegs
(row A) only, lay strand across loom to space #1, around outer
peg to space #12, down to space #6, and around Peg to Space
#7. This completes one loop and should form a "figure eight".
Repeat this step four more times around the same pegs for a
total of five loops.

With strand at space #7 (working counter clockwise), lay strand
across loom to space #9, around peg to space #1, down to space
#7 and around peg to space #8. Repeat this step four more times
around the same pegs for a total of five loops. |

The inner circle of petals is strong on in like manner, using
the inner pegs (row B) only. String three loops of fiber on
all pegs, following steps A and B. Cut strand from skein and
insert in slot. |

Thread the 24" strand (left on ouside row) into a sharp
needle (yard darner 14/18). wish strand at space #6, stick needle
through space to the back. (Do not pierce strand.) Bring needle
up through space #12, pulling tightly against center of flower
and down gain at space #11. This stitch will form a bar across
the spoke. Again mooving counter clockwise, bring needle up
in space #1 and down in space #12. Continue this backstitch
until every spoke has a cross-bar, keeping the stitch firm and
as close to center as possible. When circle is completed, strand
should be at back of loom in space #10. |

| E
The sslanted finishing stitch is worked clockwise. Bring needle
up at space #1, count 3 spokes to the right (between spaces
#11 and #10) then pierce center of spoke below crossbar, pulling
needle through to the back. Bring needle up at space #12 and
stitch into spoke between space #10 and #9. Bring needle up
at space #11 and stitch into spoke between space #9 and #8.
Complete center in this way, taking care to keep strand untwisted
for smooth finish. The final two stitches should go under first
slanted stitches made instead of through them. Remove flower
from loom by gently pulling loops up from pegs. |

To
make single flower on either row A or B, string fiber on pegs
as directed in steps A and B. Insert 24" length of contrasting
strand used to stitch center in space #6 and follow steps
E and F to stitch flower center.
