Dolphus
Weary, a Christian and a black man, was frustrated at the racism and poverty of
his hometown. Once he left home, he was determined never to return. But he did
return, believing that with his faith in God, he could fight the deep-seated racism
of the South. The fight would not be through violence but through compassion -
caring people providing care for body and suol. For nearly 30 years, he worked
at Mendenhall Ministries with people who shared that belief. This is their story
as well as his.
